Singing Bagpipe Music

A Centuries old method called Canntaireachd   -   with a new twist

Canntaireachd is a system of singing Bagpipe Music and was used in the days before musical notation was used to record pipe music for the purpose of teaching students. It depicts every individual note, grace note and grace note movement used in Piobaireachd (Pibroch), rather like Tonic sol fah or Doh rah Me. This is the subject of this book..

This is a new way of presenting Canntaireachd which actually shows the timing of the music; something that was lacking in the original manuscript that has been passed down to us from an age when this was a normal way of recording a tune.

With the book of 80 pages, there is included a CD with music of all the tunes in the book as a further guide to how they sound on the pipes. In the book, there is a pronunciation guide, and instruction on the timing system used along with all the tunes written out in Canntaireachd syllables for you to practice.

'Singing Bagpipe Music' including the CD can be purchased for $35.00 cdn. plus $7.00 cdn. Postage.

Send Bank draft or money order to:- 33 Hawthorne Drive, Innisfil, Ontario, Canada. L9S 1P1.
