
MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 2004THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY OUR PRESIDENT, MIKE COX AT 7:05 PM.
THOSE IN ATTENDENCE WERE JOHN ZAVITZ, MIKE SHEPLEY, JOANNE TARI, MIKE COX, JOE LAINO, BERNIE ETHIER, SEAN PERCY, MIKE TOMEK, KEVIN SWARTS, DENNIS SWARTS AND JENNIFER WESTFALL.
ABSENT FROM THIS MEETING WAS BARRY MANNELL, JOHN TARI, JEFF BRIMNER, MIKE RYAN AND CAROLINE RICHARDSON.
MOTION to accept the minutes of the previous meeting, held on Thursday, May 6, 2004, as circulated, made by Mike Shepley and seconded by Sean Percy. CARRIED.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Windsor, Essex County & Pelee Island Convention & Visitors Bureau sent us a Sport Group Questionnaire which is being filled out and returned. We also received the statement for the Bingo account, the balance sits at $16, 134.90 (as of April 30/04), National Sports Centre- Toronto- Paul Thomas “Inside Coaching …” pamphlet, it will be held in Windsor on June 11, 2004 for anyone, with registration. We received a letter from Harrow High School for the Tetstall bursary. We will reply and attend the Graduation for presentation ($100.00). We received a letter for a new program through Essex Community Services. It offers a supplement to families who can’t afford to put their children in Hockey. Anyone can apply to them and they will respond, as to whether they qualify.
Gatorade sent us information concerning fundraising and sponsor opportunities.
Ken Almond from the O.M.H.A. sent a letter of Congratulations to our Juvenile and our centre.
Finally, Joe Laino was sent an e-mail from Suncounty, looking for a contact for our centre, so that they can send us information.
TREASURY REPORT:
We have received one N.S.F. cheque. Joe will take care of the situation.
BILLS:
Laser Art- Andrew Grieves plaque and Coaches award, perpetual plaques and O.M.H.A. Trophy ($96.60), Team Centre registration- 18 teams ($668.00), Laser Art- trophies ($127.08) (Hockey Mom’s cover), Joanne Tari- registration for G.A.M. ($95.60), Michelle Gyorgy- 5 mos. of trips to City Hall and 2 trips to Leamington for Bingo’s ($247.52).
MOTION to pay these bills made by Mike Shepley and seconded by Kevin Swarts. CARRIED.
LOCAL LEAGUE CONVENOR’S REPORT:
The next Interlock meeting will be held on August 3, 2004.

PRE-NOVICE CONVENOR’S REPORT:
Bernie has been in contact with Tim Horton’s and they are willing to sponsor Pre-novice to Novice. The teams that they sponsor will be able to keep their jerseys and their socks. Bernie will speak with them about allowing sponsor bars on their jerseys, along with their sponsorship.
CLINIC CONVENOR’S REPORT:
There is a new format to the coaching clinics now. It will tentatively consist of recreation (8-hrs. no ice) and development (16 hrs. including part of 3 or so practices), and then they will be qualified but not certified. There will be more clarification as we receive it.
We have tentative coaches clinics booked at the end of September.
EQUIPMENT CONVENOR’S REPORT:
Everything is being sorted and looked at right now.
HOCKEY MOM’S:
The Hockey Mom’s are looking at putting out a newsletter this coming season and are asking for our assistance with stats and other information. Also they are going to do a raffle at the fair and would like to share our tent with us to sell them.
OLD BUSINESS:
We will need to get a permit for raffle tickets to be sold again this year at the Fair. Mike Cox will speak to Wayne about use of the tent.
NEW BUSINESS:
The subject was introduced, of having a used equipment sale. This will be discussed further next meeting.
We received a proposal to run the bar at the upcoming Peach Fest ball tournament. It will run August 6, 7 & 8. We would get the permit and the insurance. The insurance will run approximately $1000.00.
MOTION to commit to this proposal made by Mike Cox and seconded by Sean Percy. CARRIED.
MOTION to take out the permit and insurance made by Mike Cox and seconded by Dennis Swarts. CARRIED.
There will be a coaching selection meeting set up. Calls will be made and the first meeting will be held on June 24, 2004 at 7:00 pm at the Legion. We will decide at that meeting when there will be another one, if necessary. Bob Deslippe and George Winter will assist in the selection process as outside helpers.
The coaching applications will be revised for next year to include a choice of Travel or Local.
